[Geek] Polka Your Eyes Out

I’m a big fan, of Weird Al always have been. Now, while I’m not a slobbering fan of polka music, I must admit that I look forward to the polka song found on nearly all of his albums.

As Wikipedia says:

In addition to his parodies, Yankovic also includes a medley of various songs on most albums, each one reinterpreted as a polka, with the choruses or memorable lines of various songs juxtaposed for humorous effect. Yankovic has been known to say that converting these songs to polka was “…the way God intended.” Because the polkas have become a staple of Yankovic’s albums, he has said he tries to include one on each album because “fans would be rioting in the streets, I think, if I didn’t do a polka medley.”

So since I have every Weird Al album (including the food medlys and compilation albums), I also have a polka playlist. I used to play this at work and drive my friend Steve nuts. I’ve since recreated it AND put it in release order. This way you hear the oldest songs polka’d first through the latest album and obviously the newest songs.

I put it on earlier in the week and danced around the room with both of my kids in my arms making a general fool of myself and feeling really good about it.
