[Odd] I prefer Pi.

I’ve always been a big fan of palindromes. While I don’t remember the specifics of when I learned about them as a kid, I have vague memories of real simple ones such as “race car”, “deed”, or “rotor”. Later, I learned that there were more than just simple letter mirrored palindromes. There are word palindromes, and sound based palindromes. Did you know that palindromes are at least 2,000 years old? Check out the Wikipedia entry for an even more detailed explanation and some samples! Doing a Google Search will also return lots of results.

So I’m listening to Poodle Hat this morning, and one of my favorite songs on the album comes on. Bob. Of course the title itself is a palindrome, but the entire song uses rhyming palindrome phrases sung by Weird Al in Bob Dylan fashion.

Here’s the lyrics in case you want to sing along next time — for those of you who actually own Weird Al music. In case you missed it, there was a link above to a sample MP3 of the song.

I, man, am regal — a German am I
Never odd or even
If I had a hi-fi
Madam, I’m Adam
Too hot to hoot
No lemons, no melon
Too bad I hid a boot
Lisa Bonet ate no basil
Warsaw was raw
Was it a car or a cat I saw?

Rise to vote, sir
Do geese see God?
“Do nine men interpret?” “Nine men,” I nod
Rats live on no evil star
Won’t lovers revolt now?
Race fast, safe car
Pa’s a sap
Ma is as selfless as I am
May a moody baby doom a yam?

Ah Satan sees Natasha
No devil lived on
Lonely Tylenol
Not a banana baton
No “x” in “Nixon”
O, stone, be not so
O Geronimo, no minor ego
“Naomi”, I moan
“A Toyota’s a Toyota”
A dog, a panic in a pagoda

Oh, no! Don Ho!
Nurse, I spy gypsies — run!
Senile felines
Now I see bees I won
UFO tofu
We panic in a pew
Oozy rat in a sanitary zoo
God! A red nugget! A fat egg under a dog!
Go hang a salami, I’m a lasagna hog

[Odd] So I said to Hollywood, Where’d he go?

From Metafilter:

Don’t blink…

Quick change artists David and Dania, who got her start in the Moscow Circus, entertain crowds at NBA half-time shows by performing quick changes of clothing. They’ve performed on numerous other shows around the world. You can even buy one of David’s quick change tophats… (!!!).

The video on YouTube is pretty amazing in itself. If you go their website you can view other videos as well. Pretty awesome magic if you ask me.. something new and amusing as well
