I agree that it was pretty fascinating. But then again, I like images and documentary style photography that deals with changes over time.

There’s alot of clips to view there. A great compilation. I love long takes in movies, especially when it’s more than just a technical exercise. Read up on the section about Goodfellas for example. I miss being a film major in college.

Zombies.. who doesn’t love ‘em. Friends of ours had a zombie gaming party last week. I don’t know if either of them have a blog or I’d link to it.. In any case, since you can never have enough zombie games, especially simple ones, I ran across this Zombie Chow Down, compliments of this week’s Nodwick links.

I happened to be listening to some music by The Bedlam Bards, who happen to have an album called On the Drift ~ Music Inspired by Firefly and Serenity.

Now, while you may not be interested in the entire album, some of the tracks have been released for promotion a while back. In fact, it was this track that helped inspire the rest of the album — The Ballad of Joss. Figured you might want to take a listen to that track and laugh.. granted if you aren’t a browncoat like me or the Bedlam Bards, it might not be as funny to you.

Now the TV ads are running, and there is quote after quote from major reviewers giving it 4 stars, etc. I’m always leary of those quotes though, as often the folks being quoted aren’t worth the paper they write their reviews on. Always be wary if you see multiple quotes from the same source… that tends to mean they can’t get enough variation in their reviews. When I see the King Kong ones, though, there must be a dozen quotes, all of them glowing, and all of them from different (major) sources.

Here’s an quote from a glowing review:

If the “Rings” trilogy didn’t convince you, everyone will now have to admit that Jackson is one of the most creative men to ever sit in a director’s chair.

This film is in a class of its own. If anyone ever tries to do another remake of “King Kong,” they should be put in a rubber room.

There wasn’t a single bad thing said about the movie in that review. In fact, I haven’t found a bad review of the movie yet… and I’ve been looking.

I also recently read this article on the multiple meanings of King kong, from the Philly Inquirer. Yes, I actually read the article in the paper.. but I tracked down the digital version just for you!! It’s actually a very well written that does a good job of explaining why the original Kong succeeded, as well as why it’s continued to captivate viewers all these years. It’s those same themes that will drive PJ’s latest endeavor. It’s also why it was important to shoot the film in 1933 New York. While there may be parallels to the modern world, Kong’s place is rightfully in 1933.

My time is limited to go to the movies right now, so I really need to pick and choose what I want to see. King Kong is definately at the top of my list, and I really hope to see it sooner than later.

Perlman is nailed down for ‘Conan’
Ron Perlman has signed on to voice Conan of Cimmeria for Swordplay Entertainment’s "Conan: Red Nails," the first animated film featuring the mythic barbarian. Marg Helgenberger and James Marsden also are joining the voice cast, which includes Clancy Brown, Cree Summer and Mark Hamill. The film will be directed by Victor Dal Chele, with a screenplay by Steve Gold and Timothy Dolan.

Bits ‘n’ Pieces: Movie fan purchased 320 tickets to give out 

Who was he?

A man said he bought 320 tickets to "Serenity" and on Sept. 30 stood in front of Regal Cinema Cascade 16 theater and gave them away.

It could have been a crazy promotion by Universal Pictures. Or maybe he was just a crazed fan willing to drain his savings account for the love of a movie.
